Planning started months ago by Barbara Leadbetter and her team for this event.
The Wednesday before Christingle saw the Active Support Unit spend a productive evening constructing 150 Christingles, a mammoth job that this dedicated team undertook in great spirits.
Friday 6th December 2019 saw the culmination of that planning and preparation with a wonderful event at a full and warm St George's Church, Gravesend. It started with a tale of shepherds and lost sheep, with Lynda encouraging the scouts to find the missing sheep and sharing the story about the shepherds and how valued and loved we all were.
In between the singing we were then entertained by 1st Northfleet with their quiz on the meaning of the Christingle, accompanied by large props;
A well acted out "We Three Kings" by Riverview Park;
The story of Christmas in limerick form by the District Beavers;
A story of how reindeers got their horns well enunciated by Guy
And finally a very brave soloist (who was joined by a friend to make it a duet) from 31st Gravesend, who got everyone joining in his Christmas version of "She'll be Coming Round the Mountain".
A very enjoyable and thoughtful start to the Christmas season and one well recommended to attend and participate in for 2020.
