This weekend has seen some members of our Active Support Unit (and Sophie Rowley, Young Leader at 4th Gravesend & Kipling Explorer Scout) supporting the local community by helping as volunteers at the Ellenor Hospice Christmas Market. This charity does much work supporting those with terminal illnesses and their families, so it was a great opportunity to be able to show the Scouting promise in action "doing a good deed" and "helping other people". It went so well that a few of us have committed to running a Craft Zone for the children visiting the fair in 2020 to make and do Christmas Crafts while their parents and carers have a chance to explorer the stalls and other fund raising activities over the 2 day event.
Active Support meet every month and membership is available to anyone in Scouting who isn't a member of one of the Youth Sections (Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers or Network).
They meet every month for a variety of activities and help across the district as they are needed (just ask if you would like them at your event or meeting), as well as getting involved with other events and activities that Scouts support as part of our Community Impact and Million Hands Projects.
For more details contact Jan Jones our Active Support manager or come along to one of their meetings as listed in the District Calendar.
