Meet The Programme Team - Part 2

Meet The Programme Team - Part 2

In my last blog post we introduced our exciting new approach to District Events following the upcoming transformation changes. As part of that I briefly explained that the role of ADC was being retired and all the things that an ADC did would be divided up into some new, and exciting, roles. So here is the next part of introducing the new team taking on part of those responsibilities… The Section Support Team!

What is the Section Support Team? Well, it’s the other half of what ADCs used to do. In Gravesham we will have at least one person supporting each of the 4 younger sections across the District (Explorers and Network will be supported by the 14-24 team, led by Hannah Booth). They will be responsible for helping sections across the District when it is needed. This might be with programme planning and idea sharing, sharing of best practices and general problem solving and much more… they will essentially be the connection between the sections in groups and the District team.

The current plan is for the Support team members to make visits once a month, so that over the course of a year (roughly), they will have got around all the groups in the District. Don’t worry, these won’t be surprise visits, they will get in touch beforehand to make sure they visit at a time suitable for you! In addition, the team will be accessible via email to answer any section related questions and queries you might have. Finally, each section will also have a minimum of 2 All Leader meetings a year, where you and your teams can come along, share ideas, give feedback and help each other with the support of the District.

So who are these amazing people and what sections will they be supporting?! Meet the Programme Team supporting the sections across the District!

Section Support Team

Left to Right: Chris Norman, Chelsie Burton-Grey, Gemma Wade and Jo Davis

Chelsie Burton-Grey, currently 1st Northfleet Scout Section Team Leader, will be heading up the support for the Scout Sections in Gravesham.

Chris Norman who is 31st Gravesend’s Cub Section Team Leader, will be supporting Cub sections across the District.

The duo of Jo Davis and Gemma Wade, both Beaver Section Team Leaders in their respective groups, of Riverview Park and Istead Rise, will be looking after Beaver sections in the District.

For the time being, I will be supporting Squirrel Sections, helping to grow the provision in the District before handing over the role when suitable.

If you wish to reach out to any of these for help or information, then please do so via the emails below;

These roles become active on 1st September and the team will be in touch with all the Section leads within Groups in the near future to introduce themselves and to find out how they can help you!
