Join Us to Celebrate “HOPEHILL’S 70TH +2 & the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee”
At the District “Platinum Birthday” Camp
When: Thursday 2nd to Sat 4th June 2022
(with the option to stay until Sunday if your group wishes)
Where: Hopehill Scout Campsite
Who: Everyone involved in Gravesham Scouting.
(Beavers Friday/Saturday only – Squirrels on Saturday)
Please book your place using the Jubilee Camp Booking form. Pitch requests will be considered, but pitches will be issued 1 week before the event and size will depend on the number of people attending in your group. Starsky and Hutch will not be bookable. Barns/Main hall are booked Friday evening for Beavers sleeping inside (more information on Beavers from Marion - ADC Beavers)

Thursday 2nd June 2022
Groups and Units can arrive during the day to set up camp prior to the opening ceremony,
7.30 - 9pm Opening ceremony and entertainment on the main activity field
9pm-9:30pm Jubilee Beacon lighting
10pm Quiet time to 7am
Friday 3rd June 2022
10am: Platinum Challenge Activities (with lunch break included) – outline on page 2.
5pm: Dinner Break
7:30pm: Campfire & Entertainment
10pm: Quiet time to 7am
Saturday 4th June 2022
10:00am: “Celebrate” Themed Scouts Own
10.30am: Birthday Celebration – Each group to provide and run a sideshow/game for others to join in with on the main activity field, with Birthday Picnic lunch during the day
5.30pm: Flag Down and Closing Ceremony – Young people depart .
7:00pm: For those staying Saturday evening – a “Bring your own BBQ” & Games/District Social event on the main field
Sunday 5th June 2022
Strike Camp – Those who stayed overnight - depart during the day. Those who departed Saturday, can come and remove their equipment when convenient.
Friday - Challenge Activities
3 groups of Challenges to complete during the day
1.) Complete as time allows or before the event to bring with you
Highest Fire Challenge. Each group to design and build in own camps - to be set up and lit at the start of the weekend, as a countdown to the Beacon lighting.
Birthday Gate Challenge - Design and build a gate for your camp on 70th birthday/jubilee theme (to be judged between 1pm and 3pm Saturday)
Entertainment Challenge - plan and rehearse in own camps ready to present during the campfire Friday evening or during Scouts’ Own - discuss plans with Fraser Patrick to ensure no duplication.
Jubilee/Birthday hat or head dress - for the picnic lunch on Saturday
2.) You will be able to visit at any time - feel free to rearrange your visit if the activity is busy
Craft Challenge - something to make and take.,
History Challenge - check out the history of Scouts and Hopehill over the years and complete a quiz set for your section
Treasure Hunt Challenge - collect a sheet and hunt out the treasures listed before the campfire starts.
Recycled Craft Challenge - come and make a tribute to Her Majesty using items that would otherwise be thrown away. (you can bring additional recycling to use for this)
Archery, Climbing, Shooting - our ever popular site activities will be available to queue and try over the whole weekend.
Antarctic Challenge - find out about Helen's Request research and undertake an activity
3.) Time slots will be allocated to each section during the event to participate in these items
Tent Pitch Challenge - pitch within a set time to score points for the best pitched tents – patrol tent for Scouts/Explorers, dome tent for Cubs/Beavers
Backwoods Scout Skills Challenge - how good are your scout skills?
Obstacle course – come and see how agile you are on completing our course. A leader board for each section will see the fastest young people celebrated as the day goes on.
Timed Indoor Caving Challenge – How well can you navigate your way through our caving maze?
Driving Challenge - pedal cars at the ready for races around our preset track.
Bounce Away Challenge - run the gauntlet, or bounce away the blues in the inflatable zone.
Saturday Fun Fair
All activities on a queue and join in basis
Each group attending to provide a side show game or activity for all the young people to come and try their hand at.

Craft Zone- create your own wanted poster, sports shirt
History Zone- check out the history of Scouts and Hopehill over the years and complete a quiz set for your section
