World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) European Volunteer Pool

We have some international opportunities which we thought may be of interest to you as a volunteer who holds an international role or interest on Compass. World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) European Volunteer Pool The European Scout Region are looking to form their new Volunteer Pool. They’re a group of volunteers, aged 18 or older, from across Europe who will help deliver the 2022-2025 Regional Scout Plan. By joining the volunteer pool, you’re not committing to anything but indicating your willingness to volunteer some time over the next three years. To apply you need to:

  • Hold a current, full role in the UK

  • Have a valid UK Disclosure check

  • Have in date UK mandatory training

Starting in September 2022, members of the volunteer pool will be invited to apply for specific opportunities to support the Region. Volunteering at the Region offers a great new challenge for volunteers. Not only will you have the opportunity to work on some new challenges, but you will also get a great insight into how Scouting is delivered across Europe and may even bring some new ideas back to the UK. You can find more info about the role through the WOSM website or contacting matt.foster@scout.org. Apply for the Volunteer Pool Boy Scouts of America (BSA) 2023 National Scout Jamboree The Boy Scouts of America have invited us to their National Scout Jamboree being held at the Summit Bechtel Reserve (the venue of the 24th World Scout Jamboree) in West Virginia from 19 to 28 July 2023. The Summit is home to the ultimate Scout playground, with activities including paddleboarding, kayaking, rock climbing, rappelling, BMX biking and so much more. There are spaces for youth (14 to 17 years old) and adult (18 to 21 year old) participants, Unit Leaders (21 years and older) and Jamboree Service Team (18 years and older). All international participants will be fully integrated with BSA units in the base camps and you will be notified in advance so you can make contact before arriving at the Jamboree. The Jamboree promises to be an amazing event and a great experience. There won’t be an official UK Contingent to the event, but if you need help planning any aspects of the trip, please reach out to the International Scout Support Unit who can help mentor you along the way. You can find more information about the Jamboree and pricing on the official website or by contacting the International Hosting Team at nsj.international.hosting.2023@gmail.com. Sign up to attend the Jamboree We hope you find both of these opportunities useful. Please feel free to share them with other volunteers and young people who you think would enjoy taking part. The international aspect of our movement is something which makes Scouting unique. Every year thousands of Scouts from the UK travel abroad to take part in Jamborees, deliver community projects, complete an Explorer Belt or visit Kandersteg International Scout Centre. Thank you for all the support you have given to make these experiences possible. Best wishes, Callum Kaye International Commissioner The Scouts
