YouShape Blog Post - Feb25

The YouShape award is for Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers. It helps young people create their own fun activities and gives a little extra support for Youth-Shaped scouting.


The award has four parts: YouShape, Lead, Plan, and Represent. First, you need to complete the YouShape part (the main circle, known as the central badge). After that, you can do the other three parts in any order you like!


What's cool about this award is that you get to choose how you complete the award! You also decide when you feel you’ve earned your badge!


The four parts are a little different depending on which section you're in, but they all have similar challenges that get harder as you move from Squirrels to Explorers.

SECTION 1 – YouShape Badge

Pick something you want to change in Gravesham Scouts or your group and make it happen!

This section is all about planning fun activities:

  • Hold a Youth Forum (a meeting to share ideas with your group)

  • Plan an evening or event for another section 

  • Create an activity that helps others learn something new

This section is about being a leader:

  • Run an evening or part of the programme

  • Introduce someone new to Scouting

  • Use ideas from a Youth Forum and make them happen

  • Run part of a camp

This section is about representing your group to others:

  • Talk to the board of trustees or the district about ideas

  • Share a new idea with a leader

  • Help with fundraising or volunteering events

  • Get involved in a community project
